NFL Football Playoffs

The National Football League Playoffs is a single-elimination tournament held at the end of the 16-game regular season to determine the NFL champion. In 1932 at the end of the season thanks to a tied winning percentage of the Chicago Bears and the Portsmouth Spartans, an extra game had to be played at the Chicago Stadium were the Bears won the championship. Although there is no consensus that this game was a real playoff game, it created enough interest to lead to the creation of the official NFL Championship Game in 1933.

Currently, the NFL playoffs consist of 12 teams (6 from each of the league's two conferences) and ends with the Super Bowl, the league's championship game.
